Christmas songs – surprisingly different…
Arranged for Piano

Rejoyce! Christmas is a time of joy — both the anticipation of the holiday and delight in what it celebrates. Many traditional Christmas carols express these feelings through their lyrics and melodies. With the album „Rejoice!“, jazz pianist Christiane Dehmer fulfilled a long-held wish: to reshape the cheerful and contemplative moods of beloved traditional Christmas songs into contemporary arrangements.

This sheet music book brings these new arrangements right to you in a compact collection. It contains eleven pieces — including “O Christmas Tree,” “Once Again, It’s That Time of Year,” and “Hear the Angels’ Bright Singing” — each offered in a simplified and an advanced version. Styles range from Latin and Pop to Soul and Jazz, making every piece sound new and fresh and rekindling the joy of playing Christmas music. As a bonus, each piece includes a lead sheet for band arrangements or playing with other instruments.

Contains:
Every year again
Silent Night
Silently the snow is falling
O Christmas Tree
Tomorrow Santa Claus is coming
Come, O You Shepherds
O thou happy
Let us be happy and cheerful
Fling wide the door
Now at the manger here I stand
Angels we have heard on high

The book is divided into three parts:

Part 1 – easy piano versions:
In the first part, you will find easy piano versions of the songs — arrangements that are relatively easy to play. The sequence of pieces progresses gradually from simpler to somewhat more demanding versions. Rhythmic feeling and groove are essential in every piece, giving them their uplifting character and providing an excellent opportunity to develop rhythmic awareness and touch.

Part 2 – extended piano versions:
The second part features extended piano versions for more advanced players. These are more elaborate and closely follow the trio arrangements on the album.
If you wish, you can even combine both versions of a song into one extended performance — by first playing the easy version and then continuing with the extended one.
For those who are used to playing from chord symbols, chord symbols are included above the piano arrangements for better orientation.

Part 3 – lead sheets:
For every song a lead sheet shows the melody and chords of a song in compact form — serving as a guide for all musicians involved, regardless of which instruments they play, and making it suitable for various ensemble settings.
If you would like to create your own arrangements for piano, guitar, band, or other instruments, the lead sheets in the third part of this book provide the perfect foundation.

Enjoy playing, and rejoice in the music!
